Since being acquired by Eurofins Digital Testing, Edge Testing Solutions, one of the UK’s fastest-growing software testing companies, and Commissum Associates, a world-class information security services provider, are now working together to provide complementary services to their UK-wide client bases.
Edge offers managed testing services from regional Digital Test Hubs, while Commissum provides clients with technical assurance, information security consultancy, and cyber incident response, helping them to meet compliance challenges and ultimately operate in a safe and secure environment.
As security testing moves further up the software development lifecycle, Edge has witnessed an influx of enquires for security testing and technical assurance, whilst Commissum is increasingly delivering services alongside other non-functional testing.
Both companies, part of Eurofins Digital Testing, are headquartered in Scotland (Bellshill, nr Glasgow and Edinburgh) with offices also in Birmingham and the North of England – Manchester and Leeds. Teams will be working on joint bids, alongside cross-training employees to grow skills in complementary technology disciplines.
They service SMEs to multi-national corporates as well as the public sector. Commissum is a founding member of CREST, the international security accreditation and certification body, and a UK Government NCSC CHECK member company, while Edge has secured places on a number of government frameworks including G-Cloud 12, Home Office Framework RM6148, Digital Outcomes and Specialists 4, Public Tenders Scotland and Achilles.
Sharon Hamilton, MD of Edge Testing, commented: “Commissum is a highly respected name in cyber security testing and accreditation, by working together, we are strengthening our offer as we meet the increasing demand for security testing services from UK public and private sector clients requiring their operations to be safer and secure in this digital world.
“While there is a global IT security skills shortage, our clients can turn to us for enhanced security services and rest assured that all their testing needs are covered.”
Boglarka Ronto, Chief Operating Officer, of Commissum added: “As Agile and DevOps become ubiquitous in software development, Edge and Commissum are uniquely positioned to service software assurance requirements as an integrated offering. This is something that has been missing from the market for quite some time and I am delighted to be working with Edge to fulfil this requirement.”
Edge recently announced several new multi-year contracts spanning a variety of public and private sector contracts. New contract wins include a high street retailer, two universities, NHS Blood and Transfusion service, Department of Education, a Glasgow based Fintech start-up and a gas distribution network provider.
Commissum have also seen some victories of late, including conducting testing of the Protect Scotland app as part of the Test and Protect service and securing a place on the NHS Shared Business Services framework, being one of only five SMEs to be awarded all three lots. Additionally, they have expanded and strengthened their reach in the financial services sector with a new Malaysian bank client and other UK building societies. Commissum was also awarded the Fintech Global Cyber Tech 100 award for 2020.
Having recently experienced a record year of growth which saw Edge increase its presence in England by 50 per cent, including setting up offices in Manchester and Birmingham city centres, the company intends to continue its expansion in the UK.
Edge’s Digital Test Hubs were established to meet requirements for a low cost, on-demand testing service supplied within the UK. They operate as a challenger to the offshore model as can be accessed easily by organisations looking for a remote testing service for their in-house applications and back-office systems. The original Digital Test Hub was opened near Glasgow in 2013, followed by Birmingham in 2017, and Manchester in 2019.
