Financial services specialist Caroline Stevenson has joined Burness Paull as head of our dedicated FS Regulatory team.
The firm, which is a leader in financial services and particularly M&A deals in the sector, has recruited Caroline to take advantage of a market in Scotland that has continued to perform strongly throughout the pandemic – but is facing a new regulatory landscape emerging post-Brexit.
Caroline’s arrival builds on our already strong financial services offering, enabling the firm to provide clients with a full range of services tailored to the need of the FS sector in Scotland.
Burness Paull advises many leading financial services businesses – including Standard Life Aberdeen, Royal London, Scottish Friendly, Aegon, Nucleus, Scottish Widows and Phoenix.
FinTech has also emerged as a particular strength in the Scottish market, with a continuing momentum for further growth.
The firm has developed a deep client base within the fast-growing area, including advising online document storage specialist Legado recently on an investment into it by FNZ.
Peter Lawson, chair at Burness Paull, commented: “Caroline comes with an outstanding track record, helping to set up Sainsbury’s Bank’s regulatory team and delivering innovative work from major institutions in private practice.
“She is an ambitious new addition who will lead a service line that builds on our traditional strengths in the financial services sector.
“The financial services industry is also being disrupted by new regulatory and technological developments, and we are committed to having the best possible support in place to meet the needs of clients as they adapt to these changes.”
Caroline Stevenson said:“I am delighted to be joining Burness Paull as head of the Financial Services Regulatory team.
The firm is well known in Scotland for its financial services credentials and I look forward to adding to the success the team have already had. Burness Paull services an impressive client base and I hope to build new service lines into the firm’s offering through my own expertise and practice areas.
“The financial services sector is such a hive of activity in Scotland and the potential for future growth is enormous. Burness Paull is a Band 1 ranked firm for FinTech earned through its leading role in supporting clients in the sector. I want to play my part to ensure the firm is continuing to lead that journey, being there for our clients and their own ambitions and becoming the go to team for all financial services regulatory matters.”
