Check out the latest blog from Research and Policy Manager, Marc, as he covers the hub of activities that ScotlandIS has been involved in throughout 2021 so far.
The last few months have been an incredibly busy period for the research and policy function here at ScotlandIS. We have enjoyed working with a whole host of our members as part of our evidence build in our latest research activity. Below are some of the activities I have been involved in the last few months on behalf of our members.
In March 2021 we published Scotland’s first “Climate Tech” report in partnership with Scottish Enterprise looking at some of the key growth areas for Scotland and the digital tech sector. We were delighted to work alongside our members as part of this research through a series of interviews and member case studies highlighted throughout the report.
As we build up to COP26, ScotlandIS has our “Road to COP26” events calendar already planned which takes us up to November 2021. You can view the findings from our reports and attend all of the upcoming events by visiting our Climate Tech Knowledge Hub.
This month saw the launch of our annual Scottish Technology Industry Survey. Our Annual Survey is the leading survey for government, industry, and policymakers across the UK on behalf of the Scottish digital and tech ecosystem. Our survey is held up as a key policy document for both Scottish and UK Government.
Ahead of the Scottish Election we worked alongside our members to identify key areas of priorities for the newly elected Scottish Government. We focused on the emerging tech ecosystem, education, skills, investment and immigration policy. Our Manifesto is available to read in full here.
ScotlandIS are working in partnership again with SCDI, BT and The Royal Society of Edinburgh on the next iteration of our thought leadership reports together. This research will look at how we address Net Zero priorities at home and internationally – and make policy recommendations on how to do this. Themed workshops have taken place with several of our members, and the final report will be launched in June. The partners have previously collaborated on four digital policy research reports, the most recent of which directly led to the creation of Scotland’s first AI strategy.
As always, if any members have any questions or want to get more involved with our research and policy work, then please do not hesitate to get in contact with myself at marc.strathie@scotlandis.com
