SMEs from across Scotland can access training up to the value of £5,000 provided by the OU to support staff development. This was announced by the Scottish Government as part of the 2020-21: Phase 2 of the Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF). Following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, small and medium sized enterprises need to upskill and reskill their workforce more than ever, to boost productivity and growth.
Our training provision focus on areas reflecting Scotland’s skills priorities:
- Leadership & Business
- Digital & IT
- Health and Social Care
- Green economy
This fund is available to all SMEs based or operating in Scotland across the private, public and third sector and who have less than 250 employees. This fund can also be used to development both staff and volunteers. The application process is very simple, the employer will need to complete an application form, a training needs analysis and provide evidence of their business status to be eligible for the funding. However we will be on hand to provide guidance and support throughout the process. We want all SMEs to benefit from this fantastic opportunity – we want to hear from the very small SMEs who maybe only employee 1 or 2 staff members, to the big SMEs who may employ over 200 staff.
