University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Centre for Continuing Professional Development is offering fully funded CPD modules to support the professional development needs of Scotland’s workforce.
With Skills Scholarships courses starting in September, UWS aims to bridge the skills gap by providing industry-relevant education at no cost to employers or individuals.
Recent findings from the UWS Employer Skills Survey highlight that 60% of respondents face barriers in accessing funding for staff training.
With the withdrawal of the Flexible Workforce Development Fund and the Upskilling Fund, employers may be struggling to allocate budgets for essential staff development. The Skills Scholarships initiative addresses this gap by enabling employers to offer quality, industry-led training without incurring additional costs.
To be eligible to apply:
- Applicants must not have previously studied at UWS.
- Must be ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man for the three years immediately before the relevant date.
- Must have ‘settled status’ in the UK (as per the Immigration Act 1971) on the relevant date.
The UWS Skills Scholarships will allow individuals to access one CPD module from a select catalogue at no cost. Award of a Skills Scholarship is subject to availability and subject to meeting our eligibility criteria.
