This blog from Head of Cyber, Bev, goes into more detail on the numerous cyber events that took place last week, some of the incredible companies involved, and her first year as part of the Cyber Cluster at ScotlandIS.
Every week with ScotlandIS is busy, and last week was no exception. On Thursday, I had the pleasure of working alongside Plexal running Cyber Runway, the UK’s largest startup accelerator. This was an amazing opportunity for some of the most innovative minds in the cybersecurity community to come together to learn new skills.
The morning pitching session, run by Greg Summers, gave the attendees insights into how to convey their ideas succinctly and confidently. They then had a chance to pitch to a panel of experts and receive feedback on their freshly honed skills. It was inspiring to see these organisations present their businesses in such an enthusiastic and confident way. I am continually impressed with the innovation in the Scottish Cyber Community and have no doubt that Safeshark, Cybernitics, Stellastra, Zortrex, Quone and Meterion will go on to do great things!!
As if the day couldn’t get any better, I was honoured to attend the Scottish Cyber Awards – where we were finalists in not one, but two categories: Community and Leader of the Year. It was a testament to the incredible work our team has put in over the past year.
Though we didn’t walk away with the trophies, the sense of pride and accomplishment was overwhelming. To be recognised alongside worthy winners like Smartstems and Detective Superintendent Alex Dowall was an achievement in itself. Especially considering that our ITMSP community is just a year old!!
Looking back on my first year with ScotlandIS, I feel so lucky to be part of the Scottish Cyber Community, collaborating with inspirational people to showcase our skills and innovation and I am excited for what the future holds.
As always, get in touch if you want to get involved in our work in the cluster or to learn more about what we do.
