Leading Glasgow manufacturer McAlpine awards new ERP contract to PDMS

PDMS is pleased to announce that it has secured a significant new five-year contract with McAlpine Ltd, the Scottish based plumbing products manufacturer, to help update its existing core ERP system and other key processes to benefit from new digital technologies.

As market leader, McAlpine has a reputation for producing innovative plumbing products and exports to over 80 countries from its manufacturing plants and warehouse in Glasgow.

PDMS, a software and digital services company, has been working with McAlpine for over 20 years, providing the original ERP system CIMPAC. During this time, the PDMS team has provided ongoing IT support to McAlpine’s manufacturing operations as its business has grown and evolved.

Looking to the future, hardware & platform considerations meant the IT team at McAlpine had to decide whether to replace the ERP system with a completely new solution or to gradually migrate its heritage system into new digital interfaces.

After reviewing the options, McAlpine decided to continue working with PDMS to migrate and enhance its ERP system which manages product & engineering data, orders, stock and financials.

As a key technology partner, under the new contract, the PDMS team will deliver this migration using an agile approach to project delivery.  Upgrading the existing platforms to benefit from new digital capabilities and a better user experience as part of an incremental project roadmap, means less disruption to McAlpine’s day to day operations.  In addition, the business will be able to quickly benefit from new functionality as it is rolled out.

Chris Gledhill, managing director of PDMS commented “We are delighted that our long association with McAlpine and the dedication of our team in Glasgow is reflected in this engagement. We will be building on the inherent value of the existing systems and data whilst ensuring that McAlpine have the digital capabilities to build on their market leading position.”
