An Aberdeen-based cyber security specialist has targeted further UK market growth after announcing a renewed focus on protecting its customers’ critical data from external threats.
The TechForce has been awarded a place on the highly competitive G-Cloud 11 framework, the Government’s cloud and IT services procurement platform. Its presence in the directory means that the company’s cyber security services can be accessed by UK public sector organisations seeking support.
As part of this strategy, The TechForce has also sold its managed IT services portfolio to Solab for an undisclosed amount, which will enable the business to concentrate exclusively on its primary offering of cyber security solutions and security awareness training for medium-to-large organisations.
Similarly, the move has allowed Solab to expand its customer base locally. The two businesses will also share intelligence on a variety of key industry segments, including oil and gas, and have agreed to collaborate on certain projects that will unlock new markets.
By cementing its niche position, The TechForce, which has also relocated to the Balmoral Hub, Wellington Circle, expects that this increased focus on cyber security will strengthen its position in key areas including energy, finance, professional services, healthcare, education and the public sector.
The business has secured new clients for its cyber security services in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, London and Manchester in recent months, coinciding with the opening of virtual offices in the two capital cities as an initial step in its expansion plans.
Jai Aenugu, managing director at The TechForce, said: “We have taken the decision to pivot the company and focus exclusively on our cyber security services and training to better serve clients across the country.
“I’m pleased to have reached this agreement with Solab and welcome the opportunity to complement each other’s respective service offerings, which will ultimately benefit customers across the north-east and the rest of the UK.”
The TechForce, which is a member of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC), was recently awarded Approved Cyber Essentials Practitioner (Advanced) status to support clients achieve Cyber Essentials Plus, the Government-backed, industry-supported scheme to help organisations protect themselves against common online threats.
The company provides email phishing and security awareness training, next-generation antivirus software, vulnerability management and cyber essentials consulting for medium-to-large businesses.
Jai added: “The past few years have been an exciting period, given increased awareness and understanding amongst the business community and wider society around the issue of protecting critical data and systems from external threats.
“We have benefited from being an early adopter in this specialist area but, since cyber security is constantly evolving, we are delighted to have secured a place on the G-Cloud 11 framework to further enhance our credentials and support clients’ organisations.”
