“Empowering Women to Lead Digital Transformation”, an innovative new programme designed to address the issue of gender diversity in tech leadership, is coming to the end of its first 3-month cohort.
The new initiative, led by industry coaching experts Empowering-You and supported by ScotlandIS, The Scottish Government and the Scottish Digital Academy, will be addressed in its final session by The Scottish Government’s Head of Digital Transformation, Joy Bramfitt-Wanless, on Thursday this week, in the latest of a series of high profile guest speakers to share their leadership story with the cohort of aspiring future digital leaders.
The Programme has the aim of building a collaborative community of emerging women leaders in digital transformation roles across all industry sectors and is free of charge to participants, made up of early-mid career female tech professionals from across local and central government, financial services, health and industry, with funding provided from industry partners including Deloitte, Head Resourcing, PDMS and Sopra Steria.
In addition to their one-to-one coaching, the cohort have been taking part in group projects to tackle a series of industry and societal “Challenges”, with the outcomes to be presented to an audience of their peers at the graduation ceremony at the end of June.
Commenting ahead of her scheduled presentation to the “Empowering…” cohort, Ms Bramfitt-Wanless said, “Cultivating diversity and inclusivity throughout the technology sector is as important now as it has ever been. As Scotland prepares to deliver on the aims and ambitions within the new Digital Strategy, with a renewed focus on the possibilities which digital transformation presents, I’m delighted to be supporting this programme and its aims to empower and support our next generation of women leaders in this space.”
In a further commitment to their ambitions to tackle gender diversity in leadership roles within the tech sector, it has now been confirmed that ScotlandIS, The Scottish Government and the Scottish Digital Academy will support a second cohort of the “Empowering Women to Lead Digital Transformation” Programme to run in the Autumn, alongside a new Programme focusing on the cyber security sector.
